Today is a miserable day.

Really. And if happy Tani says today is a miserable day, than today is a pretty friggin’ miserable day! Why? Well, first, I went out to the coop to find the cold, stiff corpse of my beloved duck, Clovis. As I threw said cadaver over the wall and into the wash, I found the last bits of gore and feathers belonging to my oldest hen and best layer, who disappeared three days ago. I went inside, and slipped pretty bad on a puddle of milk left by Isaac, and wrenched my knee totally out of place (ow?) Then, said Isaac went and stole my wallet, which has yet to be found.

And to top it all off?

Meet the new Federoff BOY.

I think I shall just go to bed now. And cry.

  1. Awww, sorry you had a bad day. 😦 *hugs* That’s so sad about your duck and layer. I was pretty down when my favorite and oldest layer died, and that’s coming from someone who usually doesn’t give a rip about animals so I definitely feel for you on that. Ergh I hate it when my brothers do that! (steal my stuff that us, not spill milk 😉 ) I must say I am a pretty naughty pickpocket myself, but it’s still annoying when they do it. 😛 Hang in there girl, we all have crappy days sometimes, but that makes the good days 10x better. 🙂 Hope the ‘love to all’ returns soon, Woodie

    • Well, Clovis was the third bird to die in three days, and the thirteenth in the past two months. It’s not been a good summer for the poultry here!

Isaac is at that age (2) where he is into everything! I guess it was my fault for leaving my bag somewhere under 5 feet high…

Here’s to a good day tomorrow. Mom and Dad got ice cream and chocolate cake, so it’ll probably be a high calorie good day. 😛 Thank you so much for writing such a sweet post! 🙂

      • Whoa, that’s allot of birds to die. 😦 I hope it gets better… Do you know if they’re just getting old, or something’s eating them, or what?

Oh he’s little… Me and my brothers intentionally pickpocket :p I hear ya about that age though. My nephew is nearing two, and oh. My. Gosh. 😉

        CHOCOLATE!!!!! Chocolate fixes everything. 🙂
No problem, sweet comments are my specialty. ;p

        • Well, we saw a huge coyote out by the coop last night and the night before, and a few more birds disappeared on Monday, so we think we found the nasty culprit.

Ay-ay-ay, two year olds are the worst! They’re scary… and the scream a lot.

Chocolate does fix everything! I think that’s why God invented it. 🙂

  2. Wow, it must be so awful to have another brother! I suppose you would agree that since it’s not a girl it would be better if your mom wasn’t pregnant?

    • …no? I mean, sure, I would love a baby sis, but I’m going to love the little brother anyway, because he’s the one God decided to give me. And right now, it seems like you’re just trolling, so please go away.

            • I disagree. If we visited California and went to the beach, rather than the hoped-for Disneyland, would we wish we had never gone to California iat all?

                  • Okay, so a baby boy is a slightly less good experience than a baby girl, when you have no idea what the experience with the baby girl would be like. Every experience with children is different, but you know that everyone who has been to Disney Land would prefer it to a trip to the beach. A baby is not like a trip to California. You cannot ever know what it could possibly be like were the baby a girl rather than a boy. Also, saying a baby boy is any bit less good than a baby girl sounds very ungrateful. You ought to be thanking God for giving you another sibling.

                    • Bro, seriously. It’s not impossible to have any idea what the experience will be with a child. That’s like saying there is no difference between a boy and girl, and I sincerely hope it’s obvious to you there is. Expected experiences differ upon gender, and there is no sin in preferring certain experiences. When her mother got pregnant it was obvious the baby was either s boy or a girl, and Tani was HOPING for a little sister. Naturally upon finding out it was a boy she was disappointed, a mildly negative experience. However, preferring one positive experience to another positive experience is in no way denying the positivity of either, simply having a personal preference. I’m sure Tani is still very thankful to god for her future little brother, even though she might have rathered a sister. Get off her case about being a little disappointed, it’s a perfectly natural and common thing to wish for a particular thing over another, when you would be perfectly fine with either. I hope I have made my point clear, though I’m sure you will have yet another illogical comeback so I’ll just sit right here and wait for it. 🙂

How can that really be so bad? Why such deep disappointment?

  3. Oh, and congratulations on the baby, even if he is a boy. 🙂 If you don’t mind me asking, how many sibling do you have? Just wondering….
